Star Wars Action Figures

Star Wars was a hugely popular movie that hit the screens in May of 1977 and a year later the world seemed to have found itself in the throes of madness revolving around this very successful movie. It was about that time when the Star Wars Action Figures hit the market and among the first to release these toys, Kenner provided action figures that were just three and three-fourth inches tall and which were based on the figures from the movie. Needless to say, these action figures became an instant hit especially among children who wanted to own the entire collection.

In the thirty or so years from the time of release of the movie called Star Wars the popularity of the Star Wars Action Figures has simply not diminished and in fact has grown with each passing year. Today, these figures are the most sought after by people that love to collect toys and if you have an original you can even sell it off for thousands of US dollars.

The earliest of the action figures that hit the market around the year 1978 included Darth Vader in his original avatar and he and other such figures also came with a few accompanying accessories that made the action figures more 'real'. For example, the Jedi Knight had his own weapon made from plastic and which though not very big would still help to cut a dashing action figure as it rose from the hollow arm of different action figures.

Another popular action figure from Star Wars, the Vinyl Cape Jawa too is very popular among everyone that collects action figures. Today, the original Cape Jawa could be sold for as many as two thousand dollars.

One of the main reasons why people go to such lengths to purchase action figures and especially those related to Star Wars is that these figures help you to stay abreast with latest trends as well as developments in that movie that had such a profound impact on people's lives. Before purchasing these figures you should look for their ratings.

A rating of AFA 100 indicates that the action figure is almost perfect while a rating of AFA 95 means that the figures have glossy cards and are not discolored. Just one percent of action figures achieve an Action Figure Authority (AFA) rating of 90 and those that do have these ratings will be toys of very high quality and the only flaws in the action figures will be those that developed in the factory.

Once you have purchased your Star Wars Action Figures it is then necessary that you take good care of them so that the elements cannot do any harm to them. This means learning to keep your toys protected from direct sunlight and ensuring that they are not affected by humidity and also being careful when removing the figures' price tags.

Also, you should not touch the figures needlessly as oil from your fingers can cause a yellowing or development of spots on the figures. When picking the action figures do so by lifting with the blisters and if the figure requires additional protection then use specially designed plastic bags into which you can place and store your action figures when they are not being used.
