Being the owner of Vintage Star Wars Toys means that you have been lucky enough to own toys that have, since the seventies, revolutionized the movie merchandising industry. The various action figures and accessories and other items related to Star Wars grew very popular when they first came out in the seventies and these toys were and remain great collectibles that are well worth storing away for posterity.
The huge popularity that Vintage Star Wars Toys enjoyed led to toy-makers such as Hasbro to make new figures in the year 1995 and these toys continue to enjoy great popularity even today. Even though people go out and buy Star Wars figures that have only recently been produced, the toys that were made during the period 1978 through till 1985 are the ones that you will want to buy. Such toys are those that have a very special place in the hearts and minds of all Star Wars fans.

These toys were given the title "Vintage Toys" and their popularity transcended all segments of fans and is not limited only to collectors though they are certainly very accessible to the serious collector of toys.
The earliest of these Vintage Toys date back some two decades ago and if you pay a visit to any yard or garage sales as well as if you frequent thrift boutiques you will certainly stand a very good chance of finding one or more of these excellent Vintage Toys. Even stores that sell comic books and dealers in toys might be having some Vintage Toys that you can purchase in good condition and if you are especially lucky you can also get them in their original packing.
Kenner is a major name in the manufacture of these Vintage Toys and this manufacturer in fact got the rights to the entire line of toys even before Star Wars was actually released but their toys only found their way to stores in the year 1978 which was an entire year after the release of the movie Star Wars.

These Vintage Toys included the mini action figures that were usually between three and three and three-fourth inches tall and included ships and play sets as well and there were also some one foot tall figures as well. Each subsequent year some new toys would be released and this practice continued up to the year 1985. Some of the figure lines were based on Ewoks and Droids cartoons from the eighties and these were considered a separate line altogether.
When you go looking for Vintage Star Wars Toys today you will come across many options to choose from but most of these will also be available only in used condition and will be sold loose and out of their boxes. With luck you may be able to find a few toys that are still in their original packing and these are called CARDED items. When looking for these toys you will also come across BOXED play sets that refer to unopened toys and the term MOC refers to Mint figure on the card while MOMC refers to Mint figure on a mint, undamaged card.
It pays to know about these and other terms because only then can you know what you are buying.

My wife and I married on Dec.21 ,85.Due to the date being so close to Christmas, I’m pushing a cart threw Venture the next day shopping for presents. Hungover and bored I look down the aisle and see a sign- ALL STAR WAR TOYS 75% OFF. Maybe because I wasn’t totally sober yet and hurting, I did what I would have thought insane{at least my new wife thought so at the time) I filled the cart up with about $300.00 of Star War toys. My only regret was I didn’t grab all of it. I thought, well maybe someday they’ll be worth something. I put them in 3 trunks and forgot about it. About 10 yrs. later I’m starting to see prices on the toys skyrocket and from then on I was hooked. I’ve been collecting ever since. Dan Koetzle, Chicago,Il.
Daniel, did you see the pics going around of the Star Wars toy collection? I’ll post about it here soon but WOW is it impressive. I’ve never seen anything like it.
No, I haven’t seen them yet.
